Give a brief history of your nonprofit's story. Please include how and why it was established, and who has been involved.
As a child I grew up with ADD. I was very talkative and outgoing, and that always seemed to get me into trouble at school. My mother decided to try medication, to help with the problems that I was having at school. When I was on the medication, I was a totally different person, and when I wasn't, the teacher's knew. I also struggled with disorganization and focus at times. But when I was passionate about something, I stuck with it, no matter the cost.Throughout school I had many challenges and struggles and by the time I reached high school my mom and I decided to move away from the medication. So in my mind I grew out of my ADD. Years later, I had children of my own and they too began to struggle. They were diagnosed with ADHD and at that point I began to really look into what that meant. As I was seeking out help for them I began to realize that I had a lot of the symptoms, and I was confused at how I could possibly have ADHD because this was just for children. Along my journey with my children, I began to seek out ways to cope and manage my symptoms. After many years of my children having struggles in school and feeling like, there was something missing, I Am WHOLE was born. It is our mission to help spread awareness about ADHD and to help individuals with ADHD find their true passion and purpose and learn how to live a fulfilling life with ADHD.
