Children's Books On Wheels (CBOW) is a 501c3 Non-profit community based mobile literacy organization. We promote literacy by providing books, educational literature, community resources and referral services to children and their families in multiple langues at no cost. CBOW received it's non-profit status in 2004. CBOW has three components: Health literacy, Financial literacy, and Educational literacy to diverse communities in Montgomery County and in the Metro Houston areas.
What outreach or services does your nonprofit offer?
Educational literacy-donate books to children and their families at schools, outreach events, shelter locations, churches, community feeding, and per request Health literacy-educators for Susan G. Komen, provide application assistance for families and teen of social state and federal services, HIVAIDS awareness educators, domestic violence victims with access to healthcare, health literacy events in schools and churches.
Financial literacy-18 mobile tax sites no cost free tax preparation for families with an annual income of $56,000 or less, 10 year project partnership with the IRS services in 5 languages at the YMCA Woodlands, Conroe, 2 shelters, 1 food pantry, 2 churches included, along with tax services inside 2 banks (one bank is Spanish Speaking tax clients, tax services for hurricane affected families.
What is your ultimate goal for your nonprofit?
To provide access to mobile literacy.
